ARTIST IN RESIDENCY
The intention of the artist in residency was to respond directly to the surrounding environment and create a sound piece in situ, or connected with place and space. During my residency I collected field recordings from my immediate surrounds, taking walks into the luscious forest: church bells, farmers on tractors, birdsong, insects, thunderstorms: remixed into a sound scape and performed live with electric cello and electronics titled “Shades of Green”.
CHILDRENS’s WORKSHOP
During the workshop I introduced children to the idea of electric strings, and electronics, but with an explanation of my deep studies in classical music and the importance of theory.
Practically, I invited children to the stage to make short soundscapes together. Some children are naturally shy, but it was a great experience to nurture the curiosity and freedom existing in the child’s mind and to make some really innovative and experimental soundscapes together.
