A Taste of the Senses is an international + immersive, artist-led event series conceived by Benjamin Skepper and produced by contrapuntal.
Each edition fuses music, gastronomy, visual art, design, and performance into a multi-sensory ritual that transforms fine dining and listening into shared acts of communal awakening.
First imagined in Tokyo in 2012 through Skepper’s commission for Dom Pérignon × David Lynch × FENDI, where sound, champagne, Japanese cuisine, and light merged in a five-course synaesthetic experience, the concept has since evolved into an ongoing international series.
From the grand interiors of Kudan House Tokyo (2020 – 2021) to the contrapuntal Fitzroy warehouse in Melbourne (2025), A Taste of the Senses continues to explore how art, science, culture, and technology converge to enliven the body and spirit to create shared rituals of creativity and transformation.
Each edition follows a seasonal theme — from introspection and darkness to rebirth and transformation — uniting chefs, musicians, dancers, and designers in one fluid performance. The result is a community-driven, multidisciplinary platform where audience, artist, and environment merge into an evolving artwork.
At its heart, A Taste of the Senses celebrates the power of creation: the idea that art, collaboration, and immersive experiences unite people with culture to reimagine the possibilities of communal gathering.
