contrapuntal records is the recording and publishing home of composer and producer Benjamin Skepper.
From immersive sound works to cinematic scores and live spatial-audio performances and genetic music soundtracks, contrapuntal bridges art, science, and the future of sound tech.
Based in Fitzroy, Melbourne, our label and studio operates as a spatial-sound-driven creative ecosystem where music, advanced technology, R&D and wellness converge.

Formed in Tokyo 2008, our independent label released Benjamin Skepper’s first vinyl release when there were only a handful of pressing plants capable of working with the medium. At contrapuntal, we operate at the intersection of analog + digital fields exploring how sound tech can enhance the human experience and inspire new creative processes. 2025 marks our foray into spatial-sound solutions: in recording, installations and soundtracks, as well as live performances.
We’ve gathered more than 20 years experience in AV production, speaker design + installation, spatial and multi channel systems and sound design. We continue to partner with leading tech companies, creatives and engineers committed to tech-forward and human-centric immersive experiences.
Works can be recorded and mastered in stereo, binaural, or immersive formats, designed for high-fidelity listening, installation and playback.

Our Fitzroy studio is a dedicated spatial-audio environment, Australia’s new home for recording, R&D, and listening experiences at the cutting edge.
Equipped for immersive production and artist residencies, the space hosts sessions across music, film, and wellness, with patented genetic music sound baths the first of its kind to be presented anywhere in the world.
